Salmonella typhi, antigen (qualitative)
The qualitative test for Salmonella typhi antigen is a modern and precise method for detecting the bacteria that causes typhoid fever. Unlike antibody tests, this analysis identifies the bacteria directly, enabling early detection of the infection. It is useful both in patients with clear symptoms and in those in the early stages or without obvious signs. The test uses a stool sample, making it non-invasive and convenient for the patient.
Indications
- Persistent or unexplained fever, especially after travel to endemic areas
- Digestive disturbances: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal cramps
- Suspected typhoid fever after contact with an infected person
- Monitoring high-risk patients, including children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals
- Epidemiological screening during outbreaks
Procedure
- Collection of a stool sample following basic hygiene rules
- The sample is analyzed using modern immunological methods to detect Salmonella typhi antigen
- The procedure is non-invasive, safe, and painless, causing no discomfort
- Can be repeated if necessary to monitor patient status
Pregătirea:
- No special diet is required
- Avoid laxatives or enemas 24 hours before collection
- Ensure proper and hygienic sample collection
