Panel Foodscreen

400.00 MDL

The Foodscreen Panel (12) is a serological allergy screening test intended for the initial assessment of IgE-mediated sensitization to a group of food allergens frequently involved in allergic reactions. This panel includes allergens derived from milk, fish, egg, peanuts, soy, nuts, crustaceans, as well as certain fruits and vegetables.

The test determines the presence of allergen-specific IgE antibodies against a mixture of food allergens and represents the first step in the evaluation of patients with symptoms suggestive of food allergy. The results contribute to guiding further allergy investigations and establishing the diagnostic approach, depending on the clinical manifestations and the patient's medical history.

Indications

  • allergic reactions occurring after consumption of certain foods;
  • recurrent skin manifestations (urticaria, itching, skin rashes) with suspicion of food allergy;
  • gastrointestinal symptoms occurring after consumption of certain foods (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea);
  • respiratory symptoms associated with the consumption of certain foods;
  • suspicion of allergy to proteins from milk, egg, fish, crustaceans, peanuts, or other foods included in the panel;
  • initial evaluation of patients with suspected sensitization to food allergens.

Procedure

The analysis is performed based on a venous blood sample collected from the antecubital fold. The procedure takes a few minutes and is carried out by qualified medical personnel.

Method of analysis

Determination of allergen-specific IgE antibodies in serum against a mixture of food allergens using an automated immunological method.

Interpretation of results

The test result provides an initial assessment of sensitization to the main food allergens evaluated through this panel. In case of a positive result, the allergist may recommend additional investigations with the determination of allergen-specific IgE for individual allergens or molecular diagnostics, depending on the clinical presentation and medical history, for a detailed characterization of the allergic profile.

Preparation:

No special preparation is required before sample collection.

The test can be performed at any time and does not require discontinuation of antihistamine treatment, as these medications do not influence the determination of specific IgE antibodies in blood.

It is recommended to inform the medical staff about ongoing treatments and known allergic reactions to ensure correct interpretation of the results.
