Focal Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (FSWT) is a non-invasive treatment method that uses high-energy acoustic waves focused on the affected area. Shock waves are transmitted deep into the tissues, where they may stimulate regenerative processes, microcirculation and the local biological response.
The therapy may be used to treat certain musculoskeletal conditions, particularly persistent pain and soft-tissue injuries.
The service includes 3 sessions of Focal Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (FSWT). Treatment is performed according to the indication and recommendation of a physician.
Indications
- persistent musculoskeletal pain;
- tendinopathies and tendinitis;
- lateral and medial epicondylitis;
- plantar fasciitis;

Procedure
Before the procedure, the physician evaluates the affected area and determines the treatment parameters based on the diagnosis, location of the lesion and intensity of symptoms.
A contact gel is applied to the treatment area, after which the device applicator is positioned over the indicated region. Acoustic waves are transmitted through the skin and focused on the target tissues.
The procedure is performed without incisions and generally does not require anesthesia. During the session, the patient may experience pressure, vibration or local discomfort of varying intensity.
A session usually lasts several minutes, depending on the treatment area and the protocol established by the physician. The course includes 3 sessions, with the interval between sessions determined by the specialist.
Limitations
- The therapeutic effect may vary depending on the diagnosis, duration of the condition and the patient’s individual response to treatment.
- Shock wave therapy does not replace treatment of the underlying condition and may be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
- In some cases, symptom improvement occurs gradually and may require several sessions.
- Temporary local pain, sensitivity, redness or mild swelling may occur during or after the procedure.
Contraindications
- pregnancy;
- coagulation disorders and anticoagulant therapy, according to the physician’s assessment;
- infections or acute inflammatory processes in the treatment area;
- malignant tumors in the treatment area;
- open wounds or skin lesions in the treatment area;
- presence of a pacemaker or other implanted electronic devices, depending on the treatment area and type of therapy;
- direct treatment of areas containing lung tissue, brain tissue or the spinal cord;
- other conditions determined by the physician based on the patient’s health status.
