Epileptology
Epileptology is a branch of neurology that studies epilepsy and other paroxysmal (seizure) disorders.
An epileptologist is responsible for:
- diagnosing epilepsy and seizure disorders
- selecting and adjusting antiepileptic therapy
- monitoring patients with chronic epilepsy
- interpreting EEG and other neurodiagnostic tests
- identifying causes of seizure conditions
- preventing seizures and reducing their frequency
