Epileptology

Epileptology is a branch of neurology that studies epilepsy and other paroxysmal (seizure) disorders.

An epileptologist is responsible for:

• diagnosing epilepsy and seizure disorders
• selecting and adjusting antiepileptic therapy
• monitoring patients with chronic epilepsy
• interpreting EEG and other neurodiagnostic tests
• identifying causes of seizure conditions
• preventing seizures and reducing their frequency
