Pediatrics

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases in children from birth to adolescence. A pediatrician assesses the child’s physical, psychomotor, and emotional development, monitors growth, weight, nutrition, and immune status.

A pediatric specialist is a physician who can:

Perform examinations of children:

• Assess general health status
• Monitor growth and weight
• Measure blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
• Examine organs and systems (heart, lungs, abdomen, nervous system, etc.)
• Administer vaccinations and preventive immunizations
• Recommend laboratory tests and instrumental investigations

Interpret results:
The physician evaluates test results, physical findings, and symptoms, identifies deviations from normal, and detects chronic or acute diseases.

Advise parents and other physicians:
The pediatrician provides recommendations on nutrition, daily routines, vaccination, treatment, and rehabilitation for children.
