Hepatology

Hepatology is a branch of medicine that studies the liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts, as well as their diseases.

A hepatologist is responsible for:

• diagnosing liver and biliary system diseases
• treating viral hepatitis (A, B, C, etc.)
• monitoring patients with fatty liver disease
• managing cirrhosis and its complications
• evaluating liver function through lab tests and ultrasound
• selecting treatment and preventing disease progression
