Proctology is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the rectum, anal canal, and perianal area.

A proctologist is responsible for:

• diagnosing diseases of the rectum and anal canal
• treating hemorrhoids and anal fissures
• managing inflammatory diseases of the lower intestine
• removing polyps and other formations
• treating fistulas and infectious conditions
• performing preventive examinations and early detection
